Note:
Wolves should be weighed daily to guarantee that they are consuming enough Wolf-Gro.
If wolves are not gaining enough weight consult your veterinarian

Colostrum

  • At birth, the pups must receive as much colostrum (first mother’s milk) as possible in the first 24 hours following birth.

  • This will provide protection against future infections, particularly if the colostrum is fed before 12 hours.

General recommendations

  • Reconstituted Wolf-Gro should be fed at 38-39°C (body temperature). Use a thermometer.

  • Always boil water before reconstituting the Wolf-Gro. Allow cooling time.

  •  Do not microwave. Warm bottle in a hot water bath.

  • Clean ALL feeding utensils and equipment after each feeding: rinse in lukewarm water, wash with a detergent in hot (80°C) water, rinse with clean water (ideally a weak bleach solution) and dry thoroughly with a ‘clean’ towel.

  • Reconstituted Wolf-Gro may be refrigerated up to 24 hours. Discard any unused portion after 24 hours.

  • If wolf puppies are crying excessively, they may not be getting enough to eat or they may be too cold.

  • Puppies need assistance to help urinate and defecate for the first 2 weeks of life after each feeding. You need to assist by using a warm moist cotton ball and massaging the wolf’s abdomen and anal area until they urinate and or defecate. You must be persistent, this is very important to the wolf’s well being.

  • Fresh, clean water should be available at all times, starting at 3 weeks of age.

  • Any change in the feeding schedule should be done with judgement, according to growth and size.

  •  Frequent feeding of small amounts will decrease chances of digestive upsets.

  • Consult your veterinarian for any signs of disease, fever, parasites, …

Housing and Weaning

  • Puppies must be housed in a clean, warm, draft-free area.
  • Air temperature should be 29-32°C (85-90°F) for the first week and 27°C (80°F) for the next 3-4 weeks. Use a thermometer.
  • At 3 weeks teach puppy to drink from a saucer.
  • The weaning process can begin at 4 weeks of age by introducing moistened solid food and can be completed by the end of the 5th week.
